Innocents in Cambodia

These children are from various Cambodian villages near the Vietnamese border and are, unfortunately, homeless. There are no orphanages in the villages to care for or to protect the children. However, some of the village people are trying to find ways to create an orphanage and have attempted to coordinate with churches and organizations. The effort is difficult—poverty has the upper hand in the region, along with governmental, historical and cultural restrictions.

The face is the icon of creation. In the human mind, the universe first becomes resonant with itself. The face is the mirror of the mind. In the human person, creation finds the intimacy it mutely craves. Within the mirror of the mind it becomes possible for diffuse and endless nature to behold itself. (John O'Donohue)
